THANCKES HOUSE, POLBATHIC
A solar PV system designed to reduce the running costs of a high-usage holiday let with energy-demanding features such as a hot tub.
The brief
Thanckes Cottage is used as a holiday home and includes a hot tub, which meant electricity costs were becoming a growing concern. The customer needed a system that could reduce day-to-day energy bills while keeping the property cost-effective to run for guests.
We installed an 18-panel, 7.65kW solar PV system with a battery-ready inverter, allowing the customer to add battery storage later without needing to replace the inverter.
The result
The system is expected to generate around 7,959kWh per year, helping to significantly reduce electricity costs and offset the energy demand from the property’s hot tub and guest usage.
With a payback period of just 2 years and 10 months, Thanckes Cottage is set up for quick savings, lower bills and improved long-term energy efficiency.
“The guys worked around our busy booking schedule and had the scaffold up, job installed and scaffold down with zero impact on any guests - super efficient. They were very accommodating and we’re already looking into getting some other properties done.” — Mr E
Why it works
- Solar generation helps reduce high electricity usage from the holiday let and hot tub.
- The battery-ready inverter gives the customer flexibility to add storage later.
- The installation was completed around guest bookings with no disruption.
